The costumer care is fast and kind to solve any problems. Gearbest is my favorite website for e-commerce. It offers a wide range of products, it’s easy to buy from and excellent prices. The items are very well described.
This is my first post on Gearbest and one specific order of Jetbeam flashlight:
On the whole, one of the best webshops I use. The best, it you are not looking for specialised items.
The selection is very good, new items arriving every day.Very good for electronics and outdoor items (my favourites). Their user interface is logical, easy to use.
The prices: Gearbest is not the cheapest of all, but there are sales and coupons all the time, so unless you need something quickly, it pays to wait for a deal.
Customer support: arguably the best among all webshops I know. They speak English (:-o), they are fast, polite, they keep their own rules and usually they are quick to offer refund or store credit for damaged items. There is a user friendly ticket system to keep track of issues. They tend to work over the weekend, if there is an urgent matter to resolve.
Shipping speed: obviously it is not totally within Gearbest’s control, but they do their best to speed up delivery. For instance, they usually process and send the order within one day, the package contains a label with the detailed list of content on the outside to aid customs, there is a “Delivery List” inside the package, there is a wide range of shipping options ranging from untracked to DHL shipment. For European Union, Netherland Post is my choice, usually it takes less than 2 weeks from order to delivery, 8 days being the record.
The ordered items are very carefully wrapped. So far I had no broken items (even light bulbs), even within very roughly handed packages.
There is a feedback system for orders, to evaluate every item based on other buyers’ past transactions. This is usual, but they do not edit negative evaluations out, which is unusual and very fair.
In summary, I recommend Gearbest.
Now, the flashlights (Jetbeam JET – I MK):
It is robust, switchless model (operated by loosening / tightening the head). It takes old AA alkaline, NiCd, NiMH and 14500 Li-Ion batteries. With old fashioned ones, the brightness is OK, but there is not much difference between “Mid” and “High” modes. With 14500, however, the difference is enormous. The output on “High” is really impressive, similar to 18650 flashlight, except the operation time is more limited, and the flashlight heats up fast.
Water resistance: my friend’s kids used it in the bathtube to play submarines and once I left it in my pocket and washed it at 40C in the washing machine. The flashlight survived both.
Care: I recommend using a liberal amount of synthetic silicone grease on the threads and the o-ring. Apart from making the flashlight watertight, it makes really easy to switch it on and off.
This model has a smaller version (Jetbeam JET – u or “MU”) that takes an AAA battery. It is not just a scaled-down version of the MK model, as it has TIR (Total Internal Reflection) lens instead of SMO reflector.
Summary: I recommend Jetbeam JET – I MK (frequently on sale).
